Trauma Cover (living assurance)
I can't stress enough the importance of Trauma Insurance Cover - by far this is the most IMPORTANT insurance product anyone should have.
We all know someone, a friend, a loved one, who it just seems unfair that they have had a heart attack or got cancer as an example - many people have these events (over 40 of them) that are defined in a standard trauma product offering - as we all know too, it is often when we are fit or young when these events occur.
Yes, it isn't fair, but that's the cold harsh reality.
Every recommendation I provide will include an element of Trauma Cover even if it's just a nominal sum insured.
It pays a lump sum if you suffer a critical illness condition. Most policies now cover about 40+ critical conditions. Did you know that 2 in 5 males and 1 in 4 females between the ages of 30 and 64 suffer a critical illness? (source General Cologne Life Re 2002).
Q. Why is trauma insurance just as important as life insurance?
A. It is a lump sum of up to $2,000,000 paid in the event of critical illness
Examples: Aorta Surgery, Alzheimer’s, Benign Brain Tumour, Blindness, Chronic Liver Failure, Chronic Lung Disease, Coma, Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery, Critical Cancer, Heart Attack, Heart Valve Surgery, HIV, Kidney Failure, Major burns, Major Organ Transplant, Major Head Trauma, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Parkinson’s Disease, Paralysis, Stroke, etc.
People are now living longer and increasingly surviving these types of illnesses and conditions which were once more likely to be fatal. While dying prematurely is still the risk most people insure against, the greater risk to a family's financial security maybe being incapacitated and unable to work and running up some hefty medical bills. Surviving a critical condition can leave people, and the families who depend on them, financially crippled.
One of the distinctive features of trauma insurance is that it pays out on diagnosis rather than the outcome. It offers a solution to cover the financial consequences of an event occurring.
